I would like to thank Maria for creating a site of the 20 top art educator blogs. I am thrilled to be a part of such an amazing resource. There are soooo many great art teachers and blogs out there and I would like to thank all the great bloggers that share their thoughts, lessons and ideas.
o.k. my fellow bloggers.... I am teaching my usual k-5 classes art, but this year I am teaching 2 autistic classes as well. This is totally new to me. The two classes are broken into a primary k-2 class and a intermediate 3-5 class. There are 6 children in each class, and 3 aids say in the room and assist the children. I am questioning what is expected of me? What is expected of them? How do I create lessons for them? What is appropriate for their varying abilities? Can anyone out there help?? Or send me some good sites to read about ideas and information??
As an Art Educator I wanted to create a blog that had links to site and blogs that I thought would be helpful to other art teachers. You will also find links to my weekly lesson plans. The lessons may have been created by me or they may be a twist on others teachers ideas. As Art Educators we all have the same goal ..to Make Art Work in the classroom! Enjoy and thanks for reading :)!
Art provides unique opportunities to explore and develop ways of knowing, doing, and being. As such, art, as a core subject, …is a critical component in the development of every child and in multiple ways permeates every aspect of human existence. –U.S. Department of Education
